JONESBORO, Ark. -- Trey Finn had 18 points including an 8 for 10 performance from the free-throw line and grabbed eight rebounds for Arkansas State in a 74-62 victory over South Alabama on Thursday night.
Arkansas State (13-8, 7-5 Sun Belt) shot only 36.4 percent from the field, making its 30 for 43 effort from the free-throw a key component to its victory. The Red Wolves out-rebounded the Jaguars 43-34 and used a 29-13 run to begin the contest and put South Alabama away early.
Rakeem Dickerson scored 18 points and was 14 for 16 from the line for Arkansas State while Marcus Hooten chipped in with 10 points, five assists and four rebounds.
The Jaguars were led by Augustine Rubit with 18 points including a perfect 12 for 12 from the line and grabbed nine rebounds. Javier Carter was the only other player for South Alabama (11-9, 8-4) in double figures scoring with 11 points and five rebounds.
