NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Justin Sears and Brandon Sherrod came off the bench to score 10 points apiece as hot-shooting Yale dominated the first half to defeat Columbia 75-56 Saturday night in Ivy League play.
Coming off a 68-61 loss to Cornell on Friday, the Bulldogs (10-15, 4-4) have won three of their past four games.
Yale led 43-21 at halftime after shooting 66.7 percent (18 of 27) compared to 31.8 percent (7 of 22) for the Lions. Sears was 4-of-4 shooting before intermission.
In the second half, the Bulldogs shot 56.5 percent (13 of 23), but Columbia improved to 50 percent (11 of 22) and hit 5 of 9 3-pointers. However, the Lions trailed by 26 after going scoreless for 6 minutes and could get no closer than 16 in losing their eighth straight to Yale.
Steve Frankoski's 16 points led Columbia (10-12, 2-6), which has lost two straight and six of seven.
