Sacramento St rolls over UC Santa Cruz, 73-43
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Mikh McKinney led five players in double figures to lead Sacramento State to an easy, 73-43 win over Division III UC Santa Cruz Friday night.
McKinney had 14 points to lead all scorers. Starters Dylan Garrity and Alex Tiffin scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Jordan Salley and Nick Hornsby did the same off the Hornets' bench.
The Hornets shot 56.5 percent from the field (26-for-46), but also struggled at the line, hitting 58.6 percent on 17-for-29 shooting.
The Banana Slugs were ice-cold from the field, connecting on just 15 of 51 shots from the floor, and to make matters worse shot just 8 of 22 from the free throw line. Four players each scored eight points to tie for team high honors.
Sacramento State jumped to a big first-half lead, taking a 37-15 advantage into intermission by using a size-advantage inside.
