Sacramento State tops Northern Arizona 87-70
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Mikh McKinney scored 26 points Thursday night as Sacramento State beat Northern Arizona 87-70 to win their fourth straight game.
The Hornets (9-11, 5-6 Big Sky) opened with a 16-4 run capped by a 3-pointer by Dreon Barlett. Northern Arizona closed to within five on a 9-2 run, but McKinney's jumper kicked off a 13-2 run, and the Hornets led 41-34 at halftime.
Sacramento State opened the second half with a 12-2 run. Gaellan Bewernick sparked an 8-0 Lumberjacks run, cutting the lead to 10, and Aaseem Dixon made it a six-point game with a layup. But McKinney hit a trey and Barlett a jumper and a trey, and the Hornets held off the charge.
Zach Mills and Barlett scored 15 each and Sacramento state shot 53.5 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range.
Dixon led the Lumberjacks with 14, Bewernick scored 13, and Quiton Upshur 12.
