High Point defeats William & Mary 80-69
Williamsburg, Va. -- Allan Chaney scored 19 points and a career-high five steals, and High Point upended Williams & Mary with an 80-69 victory on Wednesday night.
The Panthers (2-2) saw four players enter into double-digits, including John Brown's 18 points on 11-of-14 shooting and Devante Wallace's 17 on a 4-for-7 effort from beyond the arc. Adam Weary also contributed 10 points off the bench in the teams' first meeting in Williamsburg since 2000.
The Panthers never trailed; up by as many as 17 points in the first period, they led 43-29 heading into the half.
High Point controlled the paint, hitting 32 of its 62 attempts and finishing with a 6-for-17 effort from beyond the arc.
Williams & Mary (1-3) got an impressive performance from Tim Rusthoven with a game-high 20 points, joined by an 18-point effort from Marcus Thornton. However, it wasn't enough.
