Missouri State defeats Liberty 54-52
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Jarmar Gulley scored 13 points, including a 3-pointer with less than two minutes to play as Missouri State defeated Liberty 54-52 Tuesday night.
Gulley's 3-pointer gave Missouri State a 54-50 lead with 1:22 remaining. Gulley finished with a game-high eight rebounds. Christian Kirk was the only other Bear to score in double figures with 10.
John Caleb Sanders hit a jumper to pull Liberty (1-5) within two points with less than a minute to play. Davon Marshall missed a jumper, then J.R. Coronado heaved a desperation 3-point shot and was fouled with two seconds remaining. Coronado missed all three free throws. Marshall also missed a potential game-winning 3-point shot at the buzzer for the Flames.
Despite his two missed shots in the closing seconds, Marshall scored a game-high 17 points and hit four 3-pointers to lead Liberty. His 3-point shot tied the game at 47 with 5:14 to play.
