Longwood runs past VA Intermont 80-61
FARMVILLE, Va. -- Tristan Carey scored 20 points to lead Longwood to an easy 80-61 victory over NAIA school Virginia Intermont Tuesday evening.
Karl Ziegler had 15 points and Darrion Allen had a career-high 12 for Longwood (5-7). Lucas Woodhouse had his second straight game with 10 assists.
Longwood's Leron Fisher opened the scoring with a 3-point jump shot and the Lancers never looked back. Longwood took control on a 17-2 run midway of the first period and were leading 32-13 at the 6:59 mark. They were ahead 42-24 at the half. It was a closer contest in the second half but the Cobras could not overcome the 18 point first half deficit.
Joshua Hart led UVI (3-10) with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Tyrone Smith had 15 points, Kris Harris contributed 14 and J.D. Tucker had 13.
