UNC Asheville defeats Presbyterian 84-70
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Andrew Rowsey scored 18 points and D.J. Cunningham led a dominating rebounding effort with a career-high 18 boards in pacing UNC Asheville to an 84-70 victory over Presbyterian on Saturday for the Bulldogs' seventh victory in eight games.
Cunningham, who also blocked six shots in the second half, and Jaron Lane both added 13 points for Asheville (8-8, 2-0 Big South). The Bulldogs had a 50-26 rebounding edge, including 19 on the offensive glass, with Corey Littlejohn grabbing 11 boards along with scoring 11 points.
Jordan Downing scored 18 points and Danny Herrera 17 to lead the Blue Hose (4-13, 0-2), who lost their fourth consecutive game.
A 12-4 run to open the second half extended Asheville's lead to 55-33.
The Blue Hose cut the deficit to 10 points with 2:30 remaining, but Lane countered with four free throws and Littlejohn a basket to keep Presbyterian at bay.
