Winthrop over Coastal Carolina 73-72 in OT
CONWAY, S.C. -- Keon Moore scored a career-high 26 points to lead Winthrop to a 73-72 victory over Coastal Carolina in overtime Saturday night.
Winthrop's James Bourne hit the winning jumper with just five seconds remaining in the low-scoring overtime.
Keon Johnson added 19 points for the Eagles (9-7, 3-1 Big South). Andre Smith chipped in with 12.
The Eagles were outscored 13-7 in the first period before Moore hit a trio of 3-pointers in just over three minutes to help Winthrop tie it up by halftime, 27-27.
The Chanticleers went on an 11-0 run midway through the second to take a 52-49 lead. But Moore hit another 3-pointer with a minute left to give Winthrop a one-point edge. A Warren Gillis jumper with 30 seconds remaining tied the game, 67-67, sending it into overtime.
Warren Gillis led the Chanticleers (9-9, 2-2) with 19 points.
