UMBC beats Mount St. Mary's 90-84 in OT
BALTIMORE -- Rodney Elliott scored 26 points and led UMBC to a second-half comeback and victory against Mount St. Mary's in overtime, 90-84 on Sunday.
Joey Getz made a layup with 11 seconds remaining in regulation for the Retrievers (2-2) and a missed 3-pointer by Mount St. Mary's Will Miller sent the game into overtime. UMBC had recovered from a four-point deficit in the final 36 seconds with a layup by Elliot and Getz's layup shortly after.
The Retrievers trailed by 14 points at the half and didn't get close to Mount St. Mary's until 2:14 remained in regulation, when UMBC closed on a 14-3 run to tie up the game.
The Mountaineers (0-4) made the first two points in overtime, but UMBC responded with seven-consecutive points. Mount St. Mary's was unable to regain the lead. Julian Norfleet scored a game-high 28 points for the Mountaineers.
