Fairleigh Dickinson knocks off LIU Brooklyn 89-67
BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Mathias Seilund scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting and Matt MacDonald scored 19 as Fairleigh Dickinson broke an 11-game losing streak against LIU Brooklyn with an 89-67 victory on Thursday night.
The Knights (6-11, 2-1 Northeast) hadn't defeated the Blackbirds (5-11, 0-3) since Jan. 20, 2007.
Mustafaa Jones added 13 points and Jayde Dawson 11 for the Knights, who also received a career-high 13 assists from Sidney Sanders Jr, whose game total is the second-best in program history. The Knights hit 13 of 30 3-point attempts for 43.3 percent. FDU scored 20 points off turnovers while committing a program-low four of their own.
Three Blackbirds scored 12 points each: Troy Joseph, E.J. Reed and Iverson Fleming. The loss was the third in a row for LIU.
FDU led from 9:29 of the first half, building its biggest lead of 27 points, 76-49, with 8 minutes left.
