CCSU rallies for 74-73 upset over Robert Morris
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Matt Mobley made the game-winning free throws with 2 seconds left, then forced a turnover to secure a 74-73 upset victory for Central Connecticut State over Robert Morris on Saturday.
Robert Morris, which was previously undefeated in the Northeast Conference, held a commanding 63-45 lead with 7:38 remaining. They were leading 71-65 with 1:19 left before Malcolm McMillan hit a jumper to pull the Blue Devils within 71-67. Khalen Cumberlander, who had 18 points, followed with a 3-pointer and McMillan added a layup just before Mobley hit the game-winning free throws.
McMillan scored 14 points. Mobley and Faronte Drakeford each added 12 points for CCSU (6-15, 2-6). The Blue Devils made 6 of 10 3-point shots in the second half, and shot 45 percent from beyond the arc.
Lucky Jones, who now has 1,015 career points at Robert Morris (12-11, 7-1), led the Colonials with 22 points.
