Wagner tops Sacred Heart 62-55
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Jay Harris and Kenneth Ortiz scored 15 points apiece to lead Wagner over Sacred Heart 62-55 on Saturday.
Wagner (12-11, 6-4 Northeast) has won three of its last four games. Orlando Parker pulled down 13 rebounds to go with eight points.
Sacred Heart (4-21, 1-9) lost its eighth straight contest. The Pioneers shot a mere 26 percent, including just 4 of 27 from beyond the arc. They were led by Evan Kelley with 20 points and Louis Montes added 13.
The Pioneers led early, but Harris drained a trey to tie at 21 with 6:26 left in the first. The Seahawks then closed with an 11-0 run, including a 3-pointer by Ortiz, to take a 32-21 lead into the break.
Wagner opened things up in the seconds half, extending the lead to as much as 17 points before cruising to the win.
