Towson routs Navy, 72-45
TOWSON, Md. -- Senior Mike Burwell scored 13 points and had eight rebounds and three assists to lead Towson to a 72-45 rout of Navy in a season opener Friday night.
Other top Towson scorers included Rafriel Guthrie who scored 16 points from the bench and Four McGlynn who hit 5-of-7 three-pointers for a total of 15 points. Jerrelle Benimon led the Tigers with 17 rebounds.
The Tigers scored first and pulled away early to lead 39-23 at the half. They never looked back, going 25-of-53 from the floor. The final 27-point margin is the largest ever for the Tigers in a home opener against a Division I team.
Kendall Knorr led Navy with nine points, six rebounds and three assists. The Midshipmen were 4-of-10 from the floor and just 3-for-19 from the 3-point line.
