Bradley overpowers Chicago State in 77-64 win
PEORIA, Ill. -- Omari Grier scored 19 points to lead Bradley past Chicago State in a 77-64 win on Friday night.
Auston Barnes added 15 points and 11 rebounds, his second double-double in as many games, to help keep the Braves undefeated in four games. Xzavier Taylor also reached double digits, with 11 points, as the Braves took an early lead that they never lost.
Chicago State (2-2) trailed by as many as 25 points but trimmed the gap to seven with a late rally in the second half led by Matt Ross, who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The comeback attempt was aided by Bradley's loss of its season scoring leader, Walt Lemon Jr., who fouled out with 9:17 remaining.
The Cougars were held to just 4 of 23 from beyond the arc and just 39.1 percent from the field.
