Chicago State Cougars @ Idaho Vandals
Chicago State holds off Idaho for 57-55 win
MOSCOW, Idaho -- Matt Ross' offensive rebound and layup with 3 seconds to play lifted Chicago State to a 57-55 win over Idaho Saturday night.
Corey Gray's jumper with 2:39 to play gave Chicago State (6-8, 1-0 Western Athletic Conference) a 55-48 lead but Idaho rattled off seven straight points -- including a pair of back-to-back Mike Scott layups -- to tie the game with 1:05 remaining.
Quinton Pippen, who paced the Cougars with 18 points and hit four 3-pointers, missed a shot from long distance but Gray corralled the offensive rebound. A foul by Scott gave Chicago State the ball out of bounds with 12 seconds to play and a missed layup by Gray set up Ross' heroics.
Idaho (6-9, 0-2) out-rebounded the Cougars 36-24, including 13-6 on the offensive glass, but made just 12 of 22 free throws.
Stephen Madison led the Vandals with 17 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
