Wyoming eases past Arkansas State 85-64
LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Josh Adams had career highs of 20 points and six assists on his 20th birthday as Wyoming shot 56 percent from the field to defeat Arkansas State 85-64 Saturday.
Larry Nance Jr. had 18 points and Riley Grabau added 16 for the Cowboys (2-1).
Melvin Johnson III led Arkansas State (2-1) with 22 points and six rebounds. Kirk Van Slyke added 13 points.
Adams, who was 8 of 11 from the floor, scored 11 points in the first nine minutes to stake Wyoming took a 26-13 lead. His behind-the-back pass set up Derek Cooke Jr.'s layup just before the break to put the Cowboys up 56-32.
The Red Wolves scored 11 straight points early in the second period, with Johnson's driving layup cutting the lead to 58-43. The Cowboys eventually built the lead to 28 after a layup by Nathan Sobey with seven minutes to go.
