Georgia State defeats Georgia Southern 73-61
ATLANTA -- Manny Atkins scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Georgia State defeated Georgia Southern 73-61 on Friday night.
Ryan Harrow had 22 points and R.J. Hunter chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds, three steals and a block for the Panthers (5-6). Georgia State hit 49 percent from the field and 74 percent from the line.
The teams were tied 20-20 at 6:58 when an Atkins dunk and a Harrow 3-pointer sparked a 13-3 run for Georgia State. The Panthers led 36-29 at halftime. With the Eagles ahead by three at 14:31 in the second, Akins, Harrow and Hunter led a 20-7 run to put the Panthers up 59-49 with seven minutes to play.
Brian Holmes led the Eagles (6-7) with 19 points, seven assists and a pair of steals. Georgia Southern had 11 turnovers in the game.
