Canisius defeats Buffalo 69-55
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Billy Baron scored a game-high 23 points to help Canisius overcome a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat Buffalo 69-55 Wednesday night.
Chris Perez had 16 points for the Golden Griffins (6-3). Phil Valenti came off the bench to score 11 points and grab five rebounds.
Josh Freelove and Will Regan combined for a trio of 3-pointers to help Buffalo forge an early lead. The Bulls went into halftime riding a 35-26 advantage.
But Canisius emerged from the break a different team. Down by 10 at 12:49 in the second, the Golden Griffins mounted a 30-8 run to lead 67-55 with 30 seconds left to play. Buffalo went the last four minutes of the game without scoring a point.
The leader for the Bulls (4-3) was Javon McCrea with 13 points and six rebounds. The loss breaks a four-game winning streak for Buffalo.
