Siena celebrates at home, beats Hofstra 67-59
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Maurice White, Rob Poole and Lavon Long scored 14 points each, leading Siena to a 67-59 win over Hofstra Monday night.
Siena (4-8) celebrated playing at home for the first time in 35 days, after playing seven straight road games, by taking an early lead and holding on for the victory.
The game was tied at 10 when the Saints went on a 14-3 run to lead 24-13 at the 6:38 mark. They held a 28-23 half time advantage. Hofstra (3-7) closed to 40-39 a Moussa Kone layup and following free throw midway of the second period. Poole made two straight layups to push the lead to 44-39. A Dion Nesmith layup with 2:33 remaining closed the gap to 58-55 but that was as close as Hofstra could get.
Hofstra was led by Jamall Robinson with 16 points. Chris Jenkins and Nesmith both contributed 11.
