Kemp, Bowie push Marist past Rider, 68-61
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Adam Kemp had 16 points with 10 rebounds while Jay Bowie added 14 points and 13 boards to help Marist defeat Rider 68-61 Thursday night.
The Red Foxes (9-14, 6-7 Metro Atlantic) moved into a late lead as Kemp hit a pair of free throws and a layup to make it 56-54. After two Daniel Stewart free throws, Khallid Hart converted a three-point play and hit a jumper to lead by five with 1:25 left.
Zedrick Sadler made a layup and Anthony Myles split a pair of free throws to pull Rider (12-10, 8-5) within two. After a Manny Thomas free throw, Daniel Stewart couldn't connect on a potential game-tying 3-pointer. Marist sank their next six free throws to ice the game.
Marist outrebounded Rider 47-26. Hart had 15 points with five assists and Thomas had 12 points.
Myles led the Broncs with 17 points and Stewart had 16.
