Beamon, Manhattan shoot past Rider 86-69
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- George Beamon scored 22 points and Michael Alvarado notched 18 as Manhattan powered past Rider 86-69 on Thursday night.
Rhamel Brown added seven blocked shots, his 12th game with four or more blocks this season.
Manhattan (18-6, 11-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led from start-to-finish, shooting 50 percent from the field and a back-breaking 57 percent (12-21) from 3-point range in keeping a safe distance from Rider (12-12, 8-7) throughout the contest.
Manhattan defeated Rider 67-51 in an earlier season matchup and led the Broncs 42-38 at the break. The Jaspers put even more distance between them and Rider in breaking out to an 18-5 run to start the second half.
The Jaspers ran the lead to 20 points with 4 minutes to play before settling for the 17-point victory, their fourth win in a row.
Rider was led in scoring by Anthony Myles with 19 points.
