Beamon leads Manhattan over Monmouth 75-61
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- George Beamon scored 31 points and Manhattan won its sixth straight game to hit 20 victories by defeating Monmouth 75-61 on Wednesday night.
Rhamel Brown and Emmy Andujar scored 12 points each for the Jaspers (20-6, 13-4), who are two games back of first-place Iona in the loss column in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Beamon hit 10 of 19 shots, including 6 of 8 3-pointers, for his second-best point total this season. He scored 34 against George Washington on Nov. 16. He has 20 or more in the last five games.
Manhattan led all the way for the fifth time during its win streak and is tied with Stephen F. Austin for first in the nation with 12 true road wins.
Josh James led the Hawks (10-18, 4-13) with 15 points.
A 7-0 run got the Hawks within 10, 71-61, with 3 minutes left but they didn't score again.
