UT-Martin defeats Tennessee Martin 100-81
MARTIN, Tenn. -- Myles Taylor scored 25 points to give Tennessee-Martin its first conference win after beating Tennessee State 100-81 on Monday night.
Terence Smith added 20 points for UT-Martin (6-14, 1-4 Ohio Valley), as six players scored in double figures. The Skyhawks had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 25-8.
Tennessee State (2-17, 1-4) got 29 points from Patrick Miller, 13 coming from the line, and Jay Harris was held to 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
UT-Martin opened up a 16-1 run to start the game and led 48-37 at halftime. The Skyhawks didn't let off the gas, scoring 52 points in the second half. UT-Martin made 39 of 64 shots and converted 47.8 percent of its 3-pointers. Dee Oldham made three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points. Marshun Newell had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
UT-Martin shot 60.9 percent for the game and held Tennessee State to 2-of-17 shooting from 3-point range.
