Hilliard leads Lamar over New Orleans 89-70
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Nimrod Hilliard scored 19 points and dished out 11 assists to help Lamar snap a seven-game losing skid with an 89-70 victory over New Orleans on Thursday night.
Hilliard scored 12 points in the first half as Lamar took a 47-27 halftime lead. New Orleans pulled within 12 points, 72-60 with 7:01 to play but would not get any closer.
Hilliard was 5 of 13 from the field and 8 for 8 from the free-throw line. Anthony Holliday tied a career-high with 18 points and Amos Wilson added 17 points. Donovan Ross had 12 points and three steals for the Cardinals (4-25, 3-14 Southland).
James Harrison scored 17 points and Kevin Hill added 11 with 11 rebounds to lead New Orleans (11-14, 8-9) which has lost three-straight and four of its last five games.
