Robinson, Hofstra defeat James Madison 82-71
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Jamall Robinson scored 22 points on Saturday night and Hofstra made all 10 free throws in the final 1:03 to hold off James Madison 82-71.
Hofstra (9-22, 5-11 Colonial Athletic Association) used a 7-1 run to separate from James Madison at 69-62 with 5 minutes to go.
Charles Cook's free throws for JMU (11-19, 6-10) cut the gap to 70-66 with 3:04, but the Dukes went cold, missing five straight field goals and two free throws while the Pride pulled away.
Zeke Upshaw had 18 points, Dion Nesmith scored 12 and Stephen Nwaukoni had 13 rebounds for Hofstra. Darren Payen's dunk gave the Pride the lead for good at 57-56 with 10:50 left.
Andrey Semenov had 17 points, and Ron Curry and Cooke each scored 15 for the Dukes. Cooke's 3-pointer with 4 seconds left in the first half gave JMU a 41-39 halftime lead.
