North Carolina A&T holds off NJIT 88-82
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Richaud Pack scored 30 points Saturday night and Jeremy Underwood added 19 as North Carolina A&T held off a strong second-half surge by NJIT to win 88-82.
Bruce Beckford scored 12, Bryan Akinkugbe had five blocks, and the Aggies (5-12, 2-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) outshot the Highlanders (8-12 Independent) 57.7 percent to 40.3 percent.
Damon Lynn scored 34 points for NJIT, including 9 of 18 3-pointers, and Ky Howard added 11.
Beckford put the Aggies up 20-18 with a dunk, then Underwood hit two free throws to spark an 11-0 run and the Aggies led 40-25 at halftime. NJIT shot 28.1 percent in the half.
Pack hit a layup at 8:08 in the second half to spark a 10-0 run and a 21-point Aggies lead. But the Highlanders rallied, ripping a 13-2 run to cut the lead to 85-69 with 2:14 to play, drawing within six as time ran out.
