Boise State cruises to 110-53 win over Simpson
BOISE, Idaho -- Jeff Elorriaga scored 26 points in his season debut and Boise State rolled to a 110-53 victory over Simpson on Friday night.
Anthony Drmic added 16 points and Nick Duncan tallied 14 for the Broncos (2-0). Elorriaga went 9-of-10 from the field -- including 7-of-8 from 3-point range -- as Boise State made 15 3-pointers, one shy of the school record.
Shaquille Jones scored nine points to lead the Red Hawks (1-5), an NAIA program from Redding, Calif.
The Broncos jumped to a 19-5 lead a little over five minutes into the game and steadily pulled away. Boise State's largest lead was at 92-33 with 10:48 left to play.
Elorriaga had 20 points and made five 3-pointers in the first half to help the Broncos to a 60-25 advantage. The senior guard missed Boise State's season-opening win against Texas-Arlington on Nov. 8 after hitting his head in a fall during practice.
