Spieth's 19 points lead Brown past Penn, 76-67
PHILADELPHIA -- Steven Spieth scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Brown to a 76-67 win at Penn Friday night.
The Bears (15-10, 7-4 Ivy League) remain tied with Columbia for third place and now are just a game behind second-place Yale, which lost to Princeton Friday. Brown faces Princeton Saturday and closes out the Ivy League season by hosting Dartmouth and Harvard.
Cedric Kuakumensah had 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Brown, adding four blocks to his school-record total (74). Sean McGonagill added 13 points with a 3-pointer, adding to his school record total (236). Rafael Maia, the Ivy League's leading rebounder, grabbed 10 rebounds as the Bears easily outrebounded Penn 46-34.
Tony Hicks tossed in 25 points to lead Pennsylvania (7-16, 4-5). Miles Jackson-Cartwright added 11 points. The Quakers shot 42.4 percent from the field (25 of 59), but converted just 12 of 23 free throw attempts.
