Fordham defeats Howard 79-60
BRONX, N.Y. -- Ryan Rhoomes scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Fordham over Howard 79-60 Saturday.
It was Rhoomes' second double-double of the season, and his 19 points was also a season best. Fordham (6-3) is off to its best start since 2000.
Rhoomes scored 11 points in the second half as the Rams stretched a seven-point halftime lead to 19 points, 63-44 with 8:40 remaining. Back-to-back 3-pointers by James Miller and Solomon Mangham pulled Howard (2-11) within 15 points, 65-50. The Bison would not get any closer, finishing 3 of 10 from the floor.
Branden Frazier and Mandell Thomas each scored 15 points. Jon Severe, who averages an Atlantic 10-best 19.4 points per game, added 11 for the Rams.
Miller scored a team-high 14 points. James Daniel added 11 to lead the Bison.
