Stony Brook edges Hartford 56-52
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Anthony Jackson and Dave Coley scored 12 points apiece and Stony Brook extended its home conference winning streak to 23 games, the third-longest active streak in the nation, with a 56-52 victory over Hartford on Saturday.
A 9-0 run by the Seawolves (16-7, 8-1 America East) gave them a 43-41 lead with 6:41 left. From there the lead changed hands five times, the final time when a three-point play by Coley put Stony Brook on top for good, 51-49, with 2:42 left. With Stony Brook up 55-52, Hartford missed two baseline 3-point attempts in the final minute. Jackson's free throw with 1.5 seconds left sealed the victory.
Jamell Warney added 11 points for the Seawolves, who had a 34-8 scoring advantage in the paint and shot 50 percent overall.
Corban Wroe scored 13 points and Taylor Dyson 12 for the Hawks, who made 12 of 32 3-pointers.
