Massachusetts defeats Youngstown St. 85-69
AMHERST, Mass. -- Chaz Williams scored 19 points and had 11 assists while Cady Lalanne scored 13 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Massachusetts in an 85-69 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday.
Williams shot 6 of 12 from the field and Lalanne shot 6 of 7, finishing with 13 defensive and two offensive rebounds for the Minutemen (3-0). Two other Massachusetts players -- Sampson Carter (19) and Raphiael Putney (17) -- scored in double digits. The team shot 32 of 58 (55.2 percent) from the field.
Youngstown State (4-1) was led by Bobby Hain, who scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds, and Marcus Keene, who came off the bench to score 20 points. The Penguins led briefly in the first two minutes and cut the lead within one with 4:45 to play in the first half, but Massachusetts pulled away in the remaining minutes.
