Milwaukee turns away Detroit 68-62
DETROIT -- JeVon Lyle scored 20 points and Milwaukee held off Detroit in the second half for a 68-62 win Thursday.
Milwaukee (17-13, 7-9 Horizon League) held a 29-23 advantage at half, and stretched the lead to 39-31 before Detroit (13-17, 6-9) closed the gap.
Detroit fought back to tie the game at 49, and from there neither team led by more than two points until Milwaukee's late push.
Malcolm Moore broke a tie at 60 on a basket with 2:17 remaining. Following a steal by Steve McWhorter, Austin Arians hit a 3-pointer with 1:27 left to give Milwaukee a 65-60 lead. Detroit closed to within 65-62, but Lyle's basket with 23 seconds left stretched the lead to 67-62 and Kyle Kelm added a late free throw as Milwaukee held on.
Kelm scored 11 points and Arians 10 for Milwaukee.
Jarod Williams led Detroit with 12 points and Evan Bruinsma added 10.
