Bethune-Cookman overtakes Howard 58-47
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Mikel Trapp scored 16 points to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 58-47 comeback win over Howard on Monday night.
Trailing 28-22 at the break, Bethune-Cookman (4-19, 2-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) held Howard to just 19 points in the second half while pouring in 36 of its own for the win. The Wildcats took the lead on a Maurice Taylor layup that made it 35-33 with 9:33 to go and never trailed again.
Malik Jackson contributed 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Taylor added 10 points for Bethune-Cookman, which shot just 27 percent from the field in securing its second win in a row.
James Daniel and Prince Okoroh scored 14 points each for Howard (5-16, 3-3). All of Daniel's points came from the free throw line, where he was 14 of 15.
