DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Tyshawn Bell scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Delaware State defeated Bethune-Cookman 79-67 on Saturday.
DeAndre Haywood added 17 points for the Hornets (7-17, 3-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Kendal Williams scored 15 and Kendall Gray had 13.
Delaware State sank 12 of 22 from the field and 8 of 13 from 3-point range in the first half to lead 35-31 at the break.
A Williams 3-pointer at 13:43 in the second capped an 18-5 run that extended the Hornets' advantage to 53-36. The Wildcats rallied with a 13-6 run midway to close within six with 6:41 to play but a final Hornets push, highlighted by a pair of Kendall Gray dunks in the final 2 minutes, put the game out of their reach.
Malik Jackson scored 19 points for the Wildcats (6-22, 4-9). Tony Kynard came off the bench to add 15.
