Skinner leads Wofford over Elon 63-59
ELON, N.C. -- Lee Skinner scored 17 points and made two key free throws down the stretch as Wofford defeated Elon 63-59 Thursday night.
Eric Garcia hit a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to give Wofford a 59-56 lead. A pair of Spencer Collins free throws stretched the Terriers' lead to 61-56 before Jack Isenbarger pulled Elon within two points, 61-59 with 16 seconds remaining. Skinner made two free throws with 13 seconds to play and Isenbarger couldn't connect on a 3-pointer in the final seconds to cap the scoring. Skinner finished 13 of 15 from the line.
Wofford (17-11, 11-4 Southern) bounced back after having its nine-game winning streak snapped by conference leader Davidson on Feb. 22, and is tied with Elon for second place in the conference.
Lucas Troutman scored 23 points on 7-of-17 shooting to lead Elon (18-12, 11-4), which snapped an eight-game winning streak.
