NC Central tops SC State 67-53
ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Jeremy Ingram scored 22 points as North Carolina Central topped South Carolina State 67-53 on Saturday.
North Carolina Central (19-5, 10-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) stayed atop the MEAC by shooting 40 percent and forcing South Carolina State into 21 turnovers. Jordan Parks added 16 points and eight rebounds.
Theron Stephens led South Carolina State (8-16, 4-7) with 10 points. Daryll Palmer added 9 points and had 10 rebounds.
SC State led by five twice in the first half, but a 14-2 run by NC Central -- including a trey by Ingram -- allowed the Eagles to hold a 30-22 lead at intermission.
NC Central's advantage grew to as many as 22 in the second half as they cruised to victory. Central dominated in the paint (22-10) and points off turnovers (15-4).
