Pacific overpowers Western Illinois in 66-52 win
STOCKTON, Calif. -- Tony Gill scored 19 points and Sama Taku added 16 more to lead Pacific to a 66-52 win over Western Illinois on Sunday.
Also hitting double-digits for the Tigers (3-0) was Andrew Bock, who scored 13 by shooting 4 of 5 from the field with three 3-pointers. Pacific was 11 for 11 from the free throw line and shot 41 percent on 17 attempts from beyond the arc, taking a 21-point advantage at the half, 44-23.
Western Illinois (0-3) narrowed the gap in the second half but couldn't close it.
Garret Covington led the Leathernecks with 16 points and four rebounds, while Adam Link added 15 points and four rebounds as well.
Sunday's matchup was the first time the teams have met since 1968, when Pacific ran away with the game in a 108-64 rout.
