East Carolina defeats UNC Asheville 81-70
KINGSTON, R.I. -- Paris Roberts-Campbell scored 20 points and four other East Carolina players scored in double digits Tuesday to secure an 81-70 victory over UNC Asheville.
Roberts-Campbell hit four of the Pirates seven 3-pointers and finished 8 of 12 (67 percent) from the field. Prince Williams followed close behind with 19 points and Michael Zangari, Akeem Richmond and Caleb White all scored 10 for East Carolina (6-1).
UNC Asheville (1-6) managed to cut a 20-point deficit to eight after scoring 12 straight points with 1:30 left to play. The Pirates responded by making 9 of 12 free throws in the final 71 seconds. Sam Hughes led the Bulldogs with 21 points.
UNC Asheville has lost its last four games. The Pirates only loss came against No. 6 Duke on November 19th when they fell 83-74.
