WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- Anthony McDonald scored 21 points and four teammates scored in double figures Saturday and MVSU beat Longwood 90-89 with a layup by Jordan Washington in the game's final 5 seconds.
James Currington scored 17 points for MVSU (3-6), Cameron Dobbs had 15, Daniel Hurtt, 13, and Washington 10. McDonald had five 3-pointers and shot 4-4 from the free-throw line.
Karl Ziegler scored 23 points for the Lancers (2-7), Jeylani Dublin, 17, Leron Fisher, 16, Tristan Carey, 12 , and Lucas Woodhouse 11.
McDonald opened the game with a 3-pointer and MVSU led by as many as 13 points before taking a 50-43 halftime lead.
Longwood rallied in the second half, tying the game at 52 on a 3-pointer by Fisher. From there the lead changed hands nine times until Woodhouse gave Longwood a 1-point lead with a layup with 33 seconds to go. Washington made the game-winning layup on MVSU's next possession.
