Saint Peter's tops Fairfield 65-62 in OT
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Desi Washington's trey at the buzzer in overtime lifted Saint Peter's over Fairfield 65-62 Thursday for a first-round Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament win.
The seventh-seeded Peacocks (14-16) will face second-seeded Manhattan College (22-7) on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Saint Peter's led 11-7 on free throws by Trevis Wyche, and then led 26-21 after an 8-2 run, but Steve Johnston hit a 3 with 1 second to play and 10th -seeded Fairfield (7-25) tied it at 30 at halftime.
Fairfield led 51-45 at 6:55 in the second, but Marvin Dominique's free throw tied it at 58 at the end of regulation. Kris Rolle's layup put the Peacocks up 62-60 in overtime, but Maurice Barrow's layup tied it at 62, then Washington hit his buzzer-beater.
Washington finished with 14, Dominique 11, and Wyche and Quadir Welton 10 apiece.
Barrow led Fairfield with 14, Johnston had 12, and Justin Jenkins 11.
