Florida A&M Rattlers vs Delaware State Hornets
FAMU advances in MEAC, beats Delaware St. 65-61
NORFOLK, Va. -- Reggie Lewis scored 18 points and sixth-seeded Florida A&M held off No. 11 seed Delaware State 65-61 to advance to the second round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday night.
Jamie Adams added 15 points and Jamari Bradshaw scored 12 for FAMU (14-17), which will face No. 3 seed Morgan State (13-15) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
The Rattlers, who improved to 10-1 all-time against Delaware State (9-21) in MEAC tournament play, limited the Hornets to just 36.2 percent shooting (17 of 47) while forcing 15 DSU turnovers.
Delaware State failed to score on three possessions in the game's final minute as FAMU held on for the win.
Casey Walker came off the bench to lead the Hornets with 16 points while Kendall Gray scored 13 and DeAndre Haywood added 10.
