Denver pulls away from Idaho State 54-38
DENVER -- Cam Griffin scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds on Sunday and Denver used 3-pointers to pull away from Idaho State 54-38.
Brett Olson and Bryant Rucker scored 11 apiece and the Pioneers outshot the Bengals from beyond the arc 34.5 percent (10-29) to 25 percent (3-12). Olson hit three 3-pointers, as did Jalen Love.
Chris Hansen led Idaho State with 15 points, including three 3-pointers, Jeffrey Solarin grabbed 14 rebounds, helping Denver to win the rebound battle 30-26.
The lead flip-flopped eight times in the first half until Rucker hit the third of his three 3-pointers at 1:01 to give Denver a 31-29 halftime lead.
Denver opened the second half with a 10-2 run and ended with an 11-0 run capped with a dunk by Griffin.
The Pioneers outshot the Bengals from the field 39.1 percent (18-46) to 35.9 percent (14-39).
