Utah Valley defeats Idaho State 60-57
POCATELLO, Idaho -- Brenden Evans scored 16 points, Mitch Bruneel added 15 and Utah Valley beat Idaho State 60-57 on Wednesday night.
Donte Williams added 13 points and Zach Nelson 10 rebounds for the Wolverines (3-1).
The Bengals (0-4) lost their home opener despite a career-high 18 points from Nnamdi Ezenwa, who made 4 of 6 3-point attempts and also grabbed eight rebounds. Chris Hansen, averaging 20 points per game, scored just 10 on 3-of-10 shooting. Jeffrey Solarin had 10 rebounds.
The Wolverines led 28-25 at halftime and were up by nine in the second half. Idaho State cut it to 53-52 on Ezenwa's 3-pointer. Nelson replied with a 3-pointer before Hansen made two free throws to cut it to 56-54 with 33 seconds left. Williams and Bruneel sandwiched two free throws apiece around a missed Bengals shot before Hansen hit a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left for the final margin.
