GREELEY, Colo. -- Tevin Svihovec scored 26 points and Northern Colorado bounced back from a halftime deficit to beat Sacramento State 84-73 on Saturday.
Dylan Garrity's 3-pointer with 2 seconds left in a tightly contested first half lifted Sacramento State to a 39-36 lead at the break.
Northern Colorado (8-7, 3-1 Big Sky) responded after intermission. The Bears took the lead quickly and used a 13-3 run midway through the half to take control of the game. Svihovec's layup with 5:48 put Northern Colorado up 68-58 and the Bears kept the Hornets at arm's length down the stretch.
Svihovec was 9 of 14 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line. Cameron Michael added 12 points as Northern Colorado shot 64 percent overall.
Garrity finished with 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting for Sacramento State (9-6, 3-1). Cody Demps and Mikh McKinney added 14 points apiece.
