Canisius cruises in 83-49 win over Siena
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Phil Valenti had 22 points, making all 10 of his free throws, and Canisius blew past Siena for a 83-49 win on Friday night.
The Golden Griffins (9-7, 4-3 Metro Atlantic) never trailed after jumping ahead 16-6 in the opening minutes and lead 35-22 at halftime.
Siena (6-10, 3-4) scored the first points of the second half on Evan Hymes' free throws, and then Canisius scored 14 straight to push the lead to 49-24 with 15:03 left.
The Saints got no closer than 22 points from there and the Griffins had their largest lead at 83-46.
Jeremiah Williams added 12 points and Kassius Robertson scored 10 for the Griffins, who held Siena to just 15-of-51 shooting.
Marquis Wright had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Saints, but also had eight of Siena's 22 turnovers.
