Detroit beats South Florida 67-57
DETROIT -- Juwan Howard Jr. scored 16 points and Anton Wilson added 15 to lead Detroit to a 67-57 victory over South Florida on Saturday.
Chris Perry made a pair of free throws to pull South Florida within 61-57 with 1:55 to play. Paris Bass scored, Matthew Grant hit two free throws and Howard Jr. finished with a dunk to cap the scoring.
Wilson was 5 of 7 from beyond the arc, and Bass finished with 11 points for Detroit (6-3).
Grant hit a 3-pointer to give Detroit a 53-44 lead with 8:32 remaining. An 11-3 run pulled South Florida within 56-55 at the 4:19 mark, but the Bulls would not get closer.
Corey Allen Jr. scored 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Nehemias Morillo had 11 points, and Perry chipped in seven points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead South Florida (5-3).
