Stark with 24, leads Tulane over Memphis 74-66
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Jonathan Stark scored 24 points, 10 in the final four minutes, to help Tulane pull away and beat Memphis 74-66 on Saturday night.
Stark hit a 3-pointer and Tre Drye scored, and Tulane came back from five down to tie it at 62 with 3:47 remaining. Pookie Powell made one of two free throws to give Memphis a one-point lead at the 3:27 mark. Stark answered with his third trey and scored seven points during a 12-3 surge to seal it for Tulane (11-3, 2-0 American Athletic Conference).
Stark was 9 of 19 from the field and had four assists and three steals. Drye finished with 14 points and Jay Hook chipped in 13.
Austin Nichols scored 28 points and Powell dished out nine assists, both career-highs, to lead Memphis (8-5, 1-1). Shaq Goodwin added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers, who snapped a five-game winning streak.
