Oral Roberts beats Western Illinois 66-57
MACOMB, Ill. -- Obi Emegano scored 28 points on Saturday to lead Oral Roberts to a 66-57 win over Western Illinois.
Senior Adrion Webber scored 11, Korey Billbury grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Golden Eagles (8-8, 2-1 Summit League) scored 28 free throws and won the rebound battle 39-35.
Oral Roberts led 11-2 after a 3-pointer by Aaron Young, but the Leathernecks tied it a 19 on a free throw by Brandon Conley. The Golden Eagles pulled to a 31-27 lead on a jumper by Emegano and led 33-27 at halftime.
Western Illinois rallied in the second half, pulling ahead 45-44 on a free throw by Tate Stensgaard, but Emegano hit a jumper to put Oral Roberts back on top 50-47 and they led 58-53 after Emegano's jumper with 2:30 to go. The Golden Eagles outscored the Leathernecks 8-4 down the stretch.
Covington led the Leathernecks (7-8, 2-2) with 18, Jamie Batish had 14 and Stensgaard 11.
