IPFW beats Western Illinois 84-64
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Joe Edwards scored a career-high 23 points as IPFW beat Western Illinois 84-64 on Saturday night in the regular season finale for both teams.
Isaiah McCray and Mo Evans added 16 points apiece for the Mastodons (16-13, 9-7 Summit League). Max Landis and Michael Calder had 10 points apiece. The team finished shooting 31 of 56 from the field, including 12 of 24 from distance.
McCray sank a pair of 3-pointers early in the first half to help the Mastodons to a 20-10 advantage and they were up 41-33 at the break.
Edwards, Landis and Calder teamed up for a trio of 3s midway through the second half as IPFW extended its lead to 64-45 and the Mastodons cruised to the win. The Mastodons enter the Summit League tournament on March 8.
Garrett Covington scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Leathernecks (8-19, 3-13).
